Congratulations to the Saugeen Maitland Lightning Peewee A Team who won silver at the International Silver Stick Championships in Sarnia this past weekend.
From the moment the girls set foot on the ice in this tournament they had to bring it. Normally playing periods of 10-10-12 they had to step up to play 15-15-15 in Silver Stick.
It was a real test of stamina, mental preparation and everything they have learnt so far this season. The girls played some awesome hockey during the 5 games this weekend and their achievements were remarkable. All of the team staff and parents feel extremely proud and uplifted by what we saw our girls do. In the end we came second to Oakville with a final score of 2-1. Quite the achievement when we think back to the beginnings of our team, we’ve come a long way! The girls proved exactly what they are capable of and we came close, very close to coming out on top with lots of chances on the Oakville net right until the final whistle. It truly was a full team effort from our 13 players. Congratulations on a great weekend of Lightning hockey!
