Stoney Creek Tournament
The Midget AA Lightning travelled to Stoney Creek on the weekend finishing with 2 wins, 1 tie and 1 loss. The Lightning started the tournament against Kingston with 2 goals from Katie Heath with Jennelle Smeltzer and Allison Lemon picking up assists.

Kingston then tied it up part way through the third, sending the game to OT. Hannah Herman took a great shot from the point which was tipped by Gabby Jex to seal the game. Game two pitted the Lightning against a quick Minnesota Machine team. The Lightning were able to hang on with some great goaltending by Kaitlyn Chagnon, who kept her team in the game. The game again went to OT but neither team could put the puck in the net, leaving the game at a 0-0 tie.The girls got a good nights rest and came out with some jump for game 3 against St Louis. Katie Heath started the scoring with an assist to Brie Becker. Mel Nolan scored to make it 2-0 with Herman getting another assist. St Louis cut the lead in half but the Lightning came back with a nice goal by Jennelle Smeltzer, one by Kayla McCabe with Jocelyn Ballantyne assisting and another by Nolan.  St Louis scored one more but the Lighting held on for the 5-2 win. Despite 2 wins and a tie the Lightning ended up 3rd in their pool and therefore were eliminated from the Gold Round. Playing in the Bronze round on Saturday afternoon the Lightning played against the Kanata Rangers. The Lighting were unable to put the puck in the net and Kanata scored 1 in the first and 1 in the third to win 2-0. Next up is Kitchener on Saturday Sept 19th at 5:00 in Wingham.
