For the second time in the past month, the Saugeen
Maitland Midget Lightning AA came up a goal short in the Championship game of a
tournament and had to settle for the silver medal. On the weekend, the Lightning skated in the
Scarborough Sharks 27th Anniversary Ice Trials tournament.
In round robin play, Saugeen picked up wins against Peterborough (3-2) and Markham-Stouffville (2-0) and lost to Toronto Leaside (1-0). In the gold medal game Toronto edged out the Lightning by a 2-1 score.
Picking up a shutout and a stellar 1.25 G.A.A. for the weekend was Goaltender, Chelsea Houle. Leading the way on the score sheet was Laura Irwin with 2 goals and an assist. Also scoring for the Bolts was Sara Gossell (2), Nicole Marriage and Marcie Landman while assists went to Brittany Butcher, Kelly Garrow and Laura Irwin.
