The Saugeen Maitland Midget Lightning AA’s picked up 2 wins this
weekend and vaulted into second place in Lower Lakes league standings, a point
behind the Sarnia Sting.
On Saturday, Laura Irwin lead the way with a
hat trick while Brittany Butcher
chipped in with three assists helping the Lightning to a 5-2 win against the visiting team from Windsor.
On Sunday, Laken Smith and Kelly Garrow set up Laura Irwin 11 seconds into the game and Micaela Stutzki posted another shutout to give the Bolts a 2-0 win versus Bluewater. Also picking up goals in the weekend action were Irwin (4), Marcie Landman, Gina Murray and Sara Gossell while assists went to Laken Smith (3), Butcher (3), Murray, Garrow, Nicole Marriage and Landman.
