Lightning Strikes
Saugeen won their first ever playoff game Saturday at home 2-1 over the Bluewater team. In a penalty filled game the Lightning scored with 29 seconds left in the game to break the tie and send the series back to Bluewater Sunday for game2.

Saugeen opened the scoring in the 2nd period after a scoreless first. Tori Terpstra scored on a goal mouth scramble assisted by center Cassidy Mason. Saugeen then reeled off 6 penalties which allowed Bluewater to tie up the game. Saugeen played most of the period either down one player or two and were fortunate to end the period tied at 1.

After a chat between periods to play more disciplined hockey the teams had many chances both ways.  Saugeen had a few chances in the 3rd on the power play and despite the shots could not finish. Saugeen had a chance with a power play in the last 3 minutes to win the game and though close the game stayed tied. With the power play expired Saugeen controlled the play in Bluewater's end and with 29 seconds to play Tori Harshman found herself wide open and off a rebound buried the puck to win the game. Tori Terpstra and Cassidy Mason assited on the goal.

We have a chance to win the series on Sunday in Bluewater but need to stay out of the box! Good luck girls and good game today!
