Maitland Lightning Midget AA team managed to take 3 out of 4 points from two
weekend games in Lower Lake League action. On Saturday,
, the visiting Lightning had to fight back from a 1-0 deficit with two third period goals to edge the Brantford Icecats 2-1. The following day saw the 1st place Lightning travel to Sarnia to play the 2nd place Sting. Again, the Lightning fell behind early and needed 2 goals from Owen Sound’s Dollee Meigs to give the Lightning a 2-2 tie.
Scoring for the Lightning in the weekend games were Meigs (3) and Hannah Davidson while assists went to Brittany Butcher (3), Davidson (3) and Abbey Gibson.
Following the Christmas weekend, the Lightning will be heading to Mississauga to play in the 31st Annual Christmas Classic. Round robins opponents will be Oakville, Mississauga and Toronto.
