The Saugeen
Maitland Lightning Midget AA swept the Cambridge Roadrunners in two straight
games this past weekend to take the opening playoff series. On
Saturday, the Lightning skated away with a 4-2 victory
while on Sunday the Lightning gave up an early goal but responded with the next 5 goals to win 5-1. Shea Tiley stopped 32 out of 35 shots to pick up a pair of wins while Dollee Meigs continued her torrid scoring pace with 3 goals and an assist. Mildmay’s, Kailyn Soers played two solid defensive games and picked up 5 assists.
Also chipping in with goals on the weekend were Stacie Vink (2), Kelly Gribbons, Laura Irwin, Brittany Butcher and Lindsey Dales. Picking up assists were Hannah Davidson (2), Kelly Gribbons, Stacie Vink, Brittany Butcher, Sara Gossell, Hailey Herman and Kelly Garrow.
The Lightning move on to a second round match up versus the winner of the Bluewater and London series.
