Lightning Start Play-offs with Win
The Saugeen Maitland Bantam AA Lightning started the play-offs the same way they finished the regular season, with a shut-out win.

However, the Bolts played a much better game, swarming the Cambridge Roadrunners at every opportunity.  Miranda Lantz set the tone on the first shift, scoring on a break-away with an assist going to Ciara Lark.  Ashlee Lawrence made it 2-0 soon after, finishing off a three-way passing play from Tori Terpstra and Cassidy Mason.  Neve VanPelt then beat the Cambridge goaltender 5-hole; Lexi Smith was awarded the lone assist.  The rookie line got involved in the scoring, with Avery Reeves potting the goal while Kaitlyn Eckert and Van Pelt earned helpers.  Terpstra got a buzzer-beater just at the end of the first period, going top shelf with assists awarded to Cassidy Mason and Ashlee Lawrence.  The Lightning were still hot in the second frame as the Mason-Lawrence-Terpstra line added another goal, this time with Mason scoring and assists going to her wingers.  Maddie Duncan finished off the scoring, firing one from the point after a D-to-D pass from defence partner Lark.  Morgan Baker turned aside all Roadrunner shots to gain the 7-0 shut-out.

Next weekend, the Bolts will be competing against the top teams in Ontario at the Silver Stick tournament in Aurora.  Go get’em girls!  The following weekend, the Lightning will be continuing their play-off series with the Cambridge Roadrunners.  For current schedule and results go to www.saugeenmaitlandlightning.com
