In round one of their Lower Lakes West Division Playoffs, the Saugeen Maitland Midget AA won both halves of a double-header Saturday in Teeswater, taking the four point series. In the first game, the Bolts came out flying, winning the game 5-2. Scoring for the Lightning was Ashlee Lawrence with two, while Lexi Smith, Courtney Surridge and Jamie Simpson added singles. Earning assists were Maddie Duncan (2), Miranda Lantz (2), Kelly Gribbons(2), Jordyn Sholdice, Cassidy Colhoun, Kailyn Soers, and Dawn Pletsch.
After a break for some lunch, the Bolts hit the ice again, this time
winning
3-2. Wildcats made it interesting in the end, pulling their
goaltender for
an extra attacker and coming close to tying game. However,
the Lightning
held tight and avoided having to make the return trip to
Windsor on Sunday
for a series deciding game. Scoring for the Lightning in
the twilight half
of the double-header was Tori Terpstra, Gribbons and
Surridge. Assists were
granted to Harley Westman, Smith, Colhoun, Terpstra
and Gribbons. The Bolts
will face either Bluewater or Chatham in the next
round which will open in
two weeks time. Next weekend the Lightning will
compete against five of the
top ranked Midget aged girls' teams in the
country at the Sudbury Snowflake
Challenge. For schedule and results see the
