Saugeen wins Gold at World Bauer Invite
Saugeen travelled to Detroit this weekend and rolled out 6 straight wins with 4 shut outs to win the Gold Medal. The Lightning played the San Jose Sharks in the finals and won a hard fought 4 to 2 decision.

Reagan Kaufman won tournament MVP winning a pair of Bauer skates and hockey camp invite in the process.

Saugeen has an 8 game winning steak and now has a gold and silver medal in their first two tournaments of the year.

Game 6 Finals : Saugeen scored in the last seconds of the first on a goal by Cassidy Mason to take an early lead. Assists went to Victoria Krulicki and Mikhayla Bowes. Early in the second Saugeen jumped to a 2 goal lead when Reagan Kaufman went in alone and fired a high shot past the goalie. San Jose fought back and cut the lead to one on a missed pass. With Saugeen in the box early in the third San Jose tied it up on the power play.

Reagan Kaufman again stepped up and blasted a goal to regain the lead and get the eventual game winner. Lisa Mohr and Taylor MacDonald got the assist. With the goal tender pulled Hailey Herman sealed the win with a drive around the defence to score in the open net assisted by Becky Bultz. Rebecca Ropp played excellent in net all weekend and allowed 3 goals in 6 games gaining 4 shut outs and 4 stops in a shoot out.

Game 5 Semi's : Saugeen 1 - Oakville 0. In an epic battle and a rematch from game 3 Saugeen and Oakville battled to a 0-0 tie after regulation and OT. Both goaltenders played excellent to keep the score at 0. Rebecca Ropp stopped the first  Oakville shooter and then Hailey Herman put a couple of dekes on the Oakville minder and we took an early lead. Ropp made the next stop and Kaufman was stopped. Oakville scored on the next shooter and Krulicki also was stopped. Ropp shut out the 4th shooter and Cassidy Mason went roof after a couple of moves to give Saugeen the lead. Ropp stopped the last Oakville shooter sending Saugeen to the gold medal.

Game 4 Quarter's: Saugeen 2- Owen Sound 1. In what seems to be developing into a bit of a rivalry Saugeen and Owen Sound battled out for a chance to move into the semi's. Owen Sound opened the scoring in the first. This was the only time in the weekend that Saugeen trailed. Local Owen Sound girl Cassidy Mason evened up the score for Saugeen on a great individual effort going through the team and deking out the O/S net minder. Minutes later Hailey Herman also skated through the Owen Sound team and scored a beautiful goal to give Saugeen the lead after two. That was all the scoring we needed as Rebecca Ropp played excellent in net.
Owen Sound played shorthanded for 10 minutes in the third on 5 penalties and Saugeen cruised to a semi final match.
