Lightning Sweeps Weekend with 2 shut outs!
Saugeen went on a road trip on the weekend and ended up with two shut outs propelling them into a first place tie with a game in hand.  The Lightning have won 5 straight and 13 out of the last 14 to move up the league rankings.

Saturday Saugeen travelled to Woodstock and played a hard fought 2-0 win. Sunday Saugeen made the drive to Brantford and posted a 1-0 win in a scrambly game. Rebecca Ropp picked up 2 more shut outs bringing her total to 9 for the year.

Game 1: Saugeen travelled to Woodstock Saturday with Woodstock trailing Saugeen by a point. Hailey Herman opened the scoring in the second firing a shot from close in to get the lead. Reagan Kaufman assisted on the goal.

With 6 minutes to go in the third Jessica Satosek scored her first goal as a Lightning player to take a 2 goal lead. Jess found herself wide open in front of the net as Sam Pruden rimmed a puck from the blue line and a crazy bounce put the puck right on Jess's stick.

Rebecca Ropp held the Woodstock team at bay with her 8th shut out.

Players of the game went to Cassidy Mason and Hailey Herman for their strong play.

Game 2: Saugeen visited Brantford on Sunday and completed the weekend sweep with a 1-0 win over a gritty Brantford team. Cassidy Mason scored a second period goal unassisted from the side of the net firing it high over the goalie to get the game winning goal.

Rebecca Ropp was again excellent gaining her 9th shut out and making big saves when called upon.

Players of the game went to Vanessa Hodgins and Sam Pruden for their hard and gritty play.

The player / players of the game are voted by the coaches and are awarded to the player who made a difference in the game, that played with heart and passion and led their team with that effort.

We have dedicated this award to Laura Mangotich who is missing most of the year with a concussion. She continues to support Brantford.jpgthe team in the stands andWoodstock.jpg on the bench.

Coach Bill has challanged the team to be worthy of  the " Laura Award" !
