Saugeen BAA split weekend games

article written by A VanPelt

A good weekend for the BAA on home ice as we hosted Brampton on the Saturday afternoon.

Our BAA team jumped out to a convincing 3-0 lead and then the parade of penalties came. In a penalty filled 2nd and 3rd period our girl still held on for a 3-2 win. On Sunday we played host to the #1 BAA in the province and our girls came out flying. The game was deadlocked at 1-1 after the first period with scoring chances going both ways. In the 2nd period the girls stepped it up and went to the dressing room up by a goal. Going into the 3rd up 2-1 Oakville tied the game up with about 10 minutes left on a beautiful goal. Back and forth action forth action for a good part of the period could not break the 2-2 deadlock. Finally with about 7 mins left Oakville scored on a scramble in front. That seemed to take the wind out of the girls sails. Oakville then scored an empty net goal with 50 seconds remaining for a final score of 4-2. A great effort from our girls. Next weekend we are back in action against Burlington in Howick at 2pm.
