Peewee A Off to LLFHL Championship Weekend!
The Saugeen Maitland Peewee A team clinched their berth to the LLFHL Weekend Championship this past Sunday (Mar. 26th) with a 2-1 win over the Waterloo Ravens in the third and final game of the Round 3 playoff series.

The Peewee A team began their journey by facing off against the Etobicoke Dolphins in the first round of the LLFHL Playoffs. They took that series in two games straight, posting wins of 2-0 and 4-0 respectively. Next up was the Kitchener Lady Rangers in round two of the playoffs. Once again the Lightning swept the series with two back to back wins. Both games ended up 3-0 in our favour.

The girls went into the third and final round of the playoffs knowing that it would be a challenging series against the Waterloo Ravens. Regular season and tournament play saw some good, close games between these two teams. The Lightning started the series off on the right foot, winning game one (1-0). Game two of the series was a different story altogether as the team stumbled and Waterloo walked away with a 6-0 win. After that good old fashioned spanking, the coaches had the girls push the reset button and get back to playing the game they know and love the way they know they can. Their grounding efforts paid off as the girls battled hard and pulled off a 2-1 win in Waterloo on Sunday night to take the series and move on to the Championship Weekend. Congratulations to the coaching staff and all of the players for pulling together to get the hard work done to move on.

This Peewee A team has two more exciting weekends of hockey remaining as they get ready to compete in the LLFHL Championships and OWHA Provincials.
