USA CANADA CUP SERIES WEEKEND
GAME 1: Girls started the weekend off playing Scarborough. We are on the board first, goal scored by Taylor Chegahno from Ella Gratto and Jordon Rowe. Grace making some great saves but 1 got through to make it a 1-1 game. Kennedy McGregor and Ella Black set up Kennedy Stauffer for our 2nd goal. Lighting lighting it up in front of Scarborough’s net, at least 6 shots in 10 seconds. Maya Robinson was robbed of a goal as their defence made a fluke save. Girls still playing strong. Grace comes up with a fantastic poke check to keep the game at 2-1. Saugeen kept the pressure on for last of the game. 2-1 final.
GAME 2
Saugeen takes on Milwaukee Jr Admirals. The girls dominate the game right away. Annie MacKinnon assisted Taylor chegahno to light the lamp with the 1st goal. Annie MacKinnon scores top corner from Maya Robinson to make it 2-0. Kennedy Caldwell finally sees a shot with 7 mins left in the 1st and she comes up with a great save. Jordon Rowe feeds Maya to go in all alone to score, 3-0 is on the board now. Not long after Kloey Jex sets up Taylor Chegahno who scores her second goal of the game. Kennedy Macgregor and Jillian Goldie nicely set up Kennedy Stauffer who finds the back of the net late in third to make it 5-0. Next came a pretty short handed goal by Kennedy Stauffer to give her 2 goals in the game. With 2:38 left in the third Jillian Goldie and Jordon Rowe find Taylor Chegahno who puts in the 7th goal of the game and gives her self a hat trick !!!!! That’s all 7-0 win.
GAME 3
Saturday started off with a game against Pittsburgh Elite. Maya Robinson assisted by Lauren Neil and Casey Beisel put us on the board first. Pittsburg was dominating at times in the first, but girls are stayed strong. Maya Robinson with a quick shot from Ella Gratto and Kaitlyn Nickason finds the five hole. Then came Kennedy Stauffer with a top corner goal to make it 3-0. Grace with some more action and again she is making great saves. That’s another win 3-0 !!!
GAME 4
4th game was against the Ottawa Sens. After the 1st the score was 0-0. Saugeen is having a hard time in this game. Ottawa was on the board 1st to make it 1-0. Not the best game for the lightening. 1-0 was the final score.
GAME 5
Sunday we played against Laurentide. Lightening came in 3rd in our pool. Points were very tight between the top 4 in both pools.
We opened the scoring first this morning with a goal from Maya Robinson. Into the second we go and Kloey Jex sets up Maya Robinson for beauty goal. That makes it 2-0.
Grace gets ready to take on a penalty shot. Grace all set and of course she denies the player a goal !!!
During a power play Maya Robinson sets up Kennedy Stauffer for the 3rd goal. Laurentide got one in after a big scramble in front of our net. Graces comes up with some big saves at the end of the game and the scores stays at 3-1.
Great weekend with some great hockey to watch, thanks for entertaining us girls.
