Atom A Silver Medalists at Oshawa Fall Classic
The Saugeen Maitland Atom A’s had a great start to the season this weekend At the Oshawa Fall Classic.

The team went undefeated through round robin play with a 3-0-1 record and rallied against some tough opposing goaltending with persistent skating, shooting, and net presence to finish top of their pool and earn a spot against the tournament hosts in the semi finals.  A hard fought game with Oshawa ended in a 2-1 win for the Atom A’s and a chance for the organization to repeat last years tournament championship, this time against the Kingston Ice Wolves.  The championship game was an exciting 4 periods of hockey which included a 5 minute 4 on 4 overtime. Both teams battled hard to the end. With the game tied through overtime, Kingston managed to pull out the win in a shootout. The Atom A’s finished with a 4-1-1 record for the weekend.

Although the tournament ended in a tough shootout loss.  It was a great start to the year and proved to show that this group of young athletes are quickly coming together as a team both on and off the ice.
