RUSH Inferno Tournament CHAMPIONS!
Our Bantam A hockey family travelled to Buffalo this past weekend for the annual RUSH Inferno tournament.  We drove down on a rainy and windy Halloween night to be ready for round robin play on Friday.

Tournaments like this provide opportunities for our girls to spend time bonding as teammates and building lifelong friendships.  Travel tournaments also give coaches, team support staff and, parents the opportunity to strengthen our "Hockey Family" bonds!  This is a really great group and everyone got involved in some team fun this weekend!  Our team dinners are epic and with Halloween aligning with our fun this weekend, there was LOTS of games and candy to be had!

After a first game loss to Rideau St. Lawrence, the girls pulled themselves together and went undefeated in their next three games vs Chicago, Princeton and, Mississauga.  They played to a first place finish and earned 'home' ice in the Semi Finals on Sunday vs Mississauga (again!).

They blew past the Sunday morning jitters, controlled the Semi Finals game to a 4-1W and, earned 'home' ice in the Championship game at 12:30pm.  With consistent and disciplined play, they dominated the final game and earned the GOLD with a 4-0W vs the hometown Buffalo team.

The game play info...

With a total of 26 goals scored and only 4 against, our goalies tallied multiple shutouts and backed our girls with solid net minding all weekend! Full team efforts paid off all around!!

Game 1 vs Rideau St. Lawrence - off to a slower than optimal start, the girls got behind on a second period short handed goal, they gave a third period push but an empty net goal by Rideau sealed the 2-0L result

Game 2 vs Chicago - a much needed reminder of the game plan from the coaches motivated the girls to come out strong with 3 goals in the first, 3 goals in the second and, 2 more in the third (that's scoring by 6 different players!) for a 8-0W

Game 3 vs Princeton - another solid start with consistent play throughout, the girls found the net 2 times in the first, 4 times in the second and, 2 more times in the third (scoring by 5 different players!) for another 8-0W

Game 4 vs Mississauga - was a much more competitive game where the passing and committed play from the earlier games prepared the girls to put the puck in the net early (twice in the first) and then fend off the aggressive push from the 'Canes' in the second and third for a 2-1W

Semi Finals vs Mississauga (again!) - another competitive game had our girls battling from behind early in the first before tying it up and then going ahead in the second and sealing the deal in the third for a 4-1W

CHAMPIONSHIP game vs Buffalo - feeling strong and sticking to the game plan, our girls went to the net early and LOTS, with 2 goals in the first and 2 more in the second they were able to keep their opponent off the board and away from our own net for a 4-0W and the GOLD medal!

Nice job girls!!  Back to regular season play next weekend ;)
