Gold in Cambridge
Relentless hard work pays off for the Midget A's this weekend in Cambridge.

The ladies started the weekend strong against Kingston.  They took a 2-0 by mid game and and continued to push through out the second.  A close call on a goal by Kingston at the buzzer made it 2-1 going into the Third.  They continued to lock down the opposition and carried the one goal lead for the rest of the game and the win.

Next was Etobicoke.  Once again the Ladies came out strong and built up a two goal lead, but this time the short break between games started to catch up to them.  The Dolphins were able to tie it up late in the third for a 2-2 final.Saturday brought one of the host Cambridge teams.  The Roadrunners came out strong and pinned in the Lightning.  Cambridge was able to carry the momentum through the game and handed the Lightning the first, and what turned out to be the only loss of the weekend.

The semi's brought the other Cambridge team.  It was a close, grinding game with only a single Lightning goal late in the second being the difference, setting the stage for a gold metal game with the host Roadrunners and a chance to redeem the earlier loss.

Cambridge started the game strong and some key saves kept the game even early on.  The Lightning continued on with grit and determination and took a 1-0 lead mid way through the second.  In the end, it proved to be enough for the Gold!

Congratulations Ladies.  All the hard work and determination paid off this weekend with a well deserved championship, and the third year in a row that the Lightning Midget A's have brought home the Gold from Cambridge!
