My name is Dean Wood and I'm honoured and excited to be a part of the U13AA program for Saugeen Maitland's 2026/27 season.
My daughter joined the SML
system this season after her successes in the Waterloo Ravens and Huron Heat
systems... and now I'm thrilled to join her in the program as well.
I bring a passion and extensive experience (specifically with the
2014 birth year). My head coaching experience dates back to 2007 and
includes a multitude of accolades developing players both individually and as a
team in both the male and female programs. My specific investment in this
age group began in 2018 when I established and coached a U5 program for a
dynamic cohort of players in Seaforth and surrounding areas. More
recently I led the charge to establish the Huron Coast Snipers spring program,
connecting elite players from across the Saugeen Maitland landscape. I,
along with a great team of coaches continue to lead this exceptionally talented
team each offseason.
It will be our staff's intention to push players, while growing
their passion for the sport they love. The U13AA program will be
aggressive in practice, games, power skating, dryland, and video, not only
pushing skill, but systems, and hockey knowledge as well. We will take
pride in being able to make hockey fun, while continuing to develop our players
both as teammates and citizens in our communities. The U13AA staff will
be empowered to ensure each player loves coming to the rink everyday, while
getting at it once there.
My accomplishments and proven track record of developing players
while enabling team success will align the SML U13AA program with the top
programs in Ontario. If your player wants to be a part of this unique
opportunity to compete at the highest level, while developing and succeeding,
please reach out to me.
