B.A.D. Girls Spanked by Lightning!
Saugeen travelled to Belmont for a big double header Saturday and playing their best hockey of the season came away with a 2-2 tie and a 4-3 win. 3 big points moves Saugeen into a tie with London for second place with both teams having one game to play. The Lightning will finish 2nd or third in the regular season depending on Sunday's game against Cambridge.

Game one: Saugeen jumped out to a lead with a goal at the end of the first period from Tori Terpstra assited by Jordyn Sholdice. Saugeen was on the power play and cycled the puck around until Tori could walk in and ripped it by the Belmont goalie. Terpstra again found the net early in the second on a feed from Reagan Kaufman to open a 2 goal lead. Belmont stormed back 2 minutes later scoring 2 goals in 18 seconds to tie the score at 2.

Saugeen had many chances in the third but could not get the go ahead goal and the game ended in a tie. Coach Spielmacher told the team that he thought it was our best game of the year and MVP prizes went to the whole team. Bill to pay up at Tuesday's practise.

Game two: With second place in sight and putting Belmont into 4th the Lightning followed up on their strong earlier game and skated away with a 4-2 win. Bill commented to the team that (the coaches) believe the team can have great sucess in the playoffs if we continue to play as we have been.

Tori Harshman opened the scoring on a power play goal from Terpstra and Sholdice. Belmont came away less than a minute later to knot the score at one. Ally Spielmacher gave Saugeen a big goal scoring short handed on a rebound from Reagan Kaufman. Belmont did score on the same penalty to tie up the game.

Tori Harshman again came through on her second power play goal of the game with assits to Cassidy Mason and Tori Terpstra. Cassidy scored a third period power play goal to cement the win getting an assit from Taylor MacDonald and Tori Harshman. A big game by Tori Harshman in a big game. Congrats.

The team scored 3 power play goals and one short handed one and all the work the coaches put into special teams is starting to pay off big. " The girls are buying into the program and you can see the results" stated Bill and again Team MVP awards to all the girls.

Great job and lets finish it off with a big win at home Sunday against Cambridge. Well done!
