PeeWee's Out of Playoff's, prepare for Provincials
The Saugeen Maitland PeeWee's finished their LLFHL playoff season losing 2 very close games against the London Devilettes, who are now in the finals for the LLFHL championship.
In game 1 of the PeeWee playoff series, Julia Beaven played her heart out in net for SML, making many seemingly impossible saves, and earning the respect of the London team in the process. In fact, the whole PeeWee team played well, keeping the win within reach. London went ahead 1 - 0 in the first, adding another at the mid-way point of the 2nd before Jaymee Nolan scored for the Lightning ending the 2nd with London ahead 2 - 1. The 3rd period continued to be fast and furious, with Beaven continuing to frustrate the Devilettes. Finally, with .01 left on the clock, London gets the empty net goal to insure the 3 - 1 win.
Game 2 was again a close match up, with the Lightning continuing their strong play from the day before, and more stellar goaltending from Julia Beaven. The PeeWee girls gave London a great effort once again, but couldn't put the puck in the net, losing a close match 2 - 0.
The PeeWee Lightning will continue to prepare for their trip to Provincials, hosted by the City of Ottawa, by playing numerous exhibition games over the next few weeks. Stay tuned for results leading up to the Year End Provincials!
