Five for Five
Our Saugeen Maitland Midget A team continued its tournament success in 2014 winning the Scarborough New Years Classic this past weekend.  The girls completed pool play with a 3-0-1 record with wins over Vaughn 6-0, North Bay 2-0, and North York 3-0' and a 2-2 tie with Timmins.  The tie would cause us to end up in second place in our pool and meant that the girls would have to win three straight games on Sunday if they wanted to take home the Championship banner, which is exactly what they did. First in the elimination game, they got some revenge on Timmins beating them 4-1.  This was followed by a 2-1 thriller against a very good Clearview squad. Finally, the girls had just enough left in them to squeak out a 3-2 win over Aurora in the Championship game.

Earlier in December, our Midget A girls had streched their tournament winning streak to 4, finding success at the Whitby Tournament of Hero's.  Our pool play record was also 3-0-1 with wins against North York 3-0, Nepean 3-1, and Whitby 6-2; the tie coming against Clarington 1-1.  This time we ended up first in our pool and a semi final game against Missisauga which they won  6-1.  In the final, they came up against West Northumberland who had a very strong defence.  Our girls were persistent enough to get a couple of pucks by their goalie which was good enough for the win 2-1.

Congratualtions on a wonderful season so far.  Keep up the great work!
