Tiley earns MVP Honours & Gold Medal at World Championships
Submitted By Sue Davey on Tuesday, April 1, 2014
The Saugeen Maitland Women’s Hockey Association would like to congratulate former Lightning goalie Shea Tiley on her incredible performance at the U18 World Championships this past weekend in Hungary.

Tiley who played on last year’s Saugeen Maitland Midget AA team, not only brought home the Gold Medal, she was named International Ice Hockey Federation’s Player of the Game in both the Semi-final and Final.  In addition, she was named by the Team Canada Coaches as one of three tournament MVPs.

Earning a 7-0 shut-out against Finland in the round robin play, and then a heart stopping 1-0 shutout against Russia that was finally decided in overtime, gave Tiley the nod from the Canadian coaches to start the final championship game. In the Gold medal game, playing against USA, Tiley turned away 25 of 26 shots allowing Canada to win 5-1.

On behalf of all the girls in the Saugeen Maitland Women’s Hockey Association……WAY TO GO SHEA…WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!!
