Saugeen Maitland wins Gold at World Bauer
Saugeen traveled to Detroit on the weekend and rolled to 5 straight wins to successfully defend their last years Gold medal.The Lightning outscored their competition 30-6 with 2 shut outs. Saugeen extends their unbeaten streak to 13 straight wins to start the season.
Hailey Herman took home the Tournament MVP award scoring 5 goals and 5 assists with a strong defensive game as well. Saugeen has started off strong with 2 tournament wins
and looking forward to the Guelph tournament in December.
Saugeen welcomed three new additions to the team.
Lexi Smith had an awesome tournament scoring 6 goals and adding 4 assists bringing 7 years of Saugeen experience to the team and Captain of the Silver Medal Provincials Saugeen MAA team last year.
Delaney Dupon has added D depth and collected 3 points in the tournament having played for a few years with Saugeen.
Hailegh Duplantis has rejoined Saugeen as a second goal tender where she played a few seasons for Saugeen. Hailegh back stopped the team to 2 wins allowing only 2 goals on route to the Gold. She joins Amanda Gans who threw 2 shut outs in game 2 and the semi final and then back stopped the Gold Medal win.
