OWHA Updates for 2020-2021 season
Submitted By Howie Pruden on Wednesday, August 5, 2020
As of today there is no updates to a season based on information from OHWA and Hockey Canada. Information from OWHA, Hockey Canada and the County Health Boards are being updated regularly and we will forward any new information to you. Currently there are no firm answers on what this season will look like. We do know that it will not look like a typical season.

There are skills training allowed with limited numbers depending on the arenas and the County Health Boards. No scrimmages, games and no contact of any sort. Come to the arena dressed are some of the rules. We have no dates of the arenas we use on opening times at this point.

Hockey Canada has released a Return to Play Framework and is available at this link  https://www.hockeycanada.ca/en-ca/exclusive/return-to-hockey
There is no on-ice insurance coverage for OWHA organizations or members at this time.  All developmental instruction is to run completely independent of the organization and is at the user’s own risk. Saugeen Maitland Girls Hockey Association will not be affiliated with any on-ice or off-ice development at this time.

Associations may open registration however cannot collect fees at this time.  More information on registration will be coming soon. Its unlikely that there will be any tournaments during the 2020-21 season ·    Final decisions regarding Provincial Championships in 2021 have not yet been made.   We know enrollment numbers may look different next season, as will ice availability.  We are working on opening registration as soon as possible.

We all want to see a return to hockey and at Saugeen we are working on plans for different options but at this time we are in a waiting mode. Have a great summer and will keep our web site and coaches up to date as we learn more
