Saugeen Maitland Lightning is pleased to announce Ally Denstedt
as U15AA Head Coach for the 2022-2023 Season.
Ally Denstedt comes to us from the Huron Perth Lakers AAA
association. This will be her second season coaching, but her first in role as
a head coach as well as with the Saugeen Maitland Lightning.
The Stratford native played u15AA and u18AA for
Saugeen Maitland Lightning before heading to the PWHL (now the u22 Elite) for
her next two seasons. In 2017-18 she was a member of the K-W Rangers and in
2018-19 was a member of the London Jr Devilettes in the PWHL.
In 2015-16, Denstedt was a member of the Saugeen
U15 AA team who found gold at provincials. In her 2018-19 season with the
London Jrs she not only won provincial gold, but also fulfilled a storybook
ending in winning the Alumni Cup at the PW’s final four tournament for a double
crown.
Denstedt had earned herself an athletic
scholarship to the University of Guelph. After her first year she was nominated
the next two seasons for Guelph’s Tawnya Gvoich Scholarship for women in
sports; demonstrating exemplary characteristics in leadership. She was apart of
the Gryphons Women’s hockey team for three seasons before seeing her playing
days cut short due to injury.
Denstedt is studying at the University of Guelph
where, she is currently working towards graduating in 2023 with a Bachelor of
Arts Honors Degree with a double major in French and Sociology. Within the next
few months she hopes to be accepted into a B.Ed program as she wants to pursue
a career in teaching French as a second language
