I wanted to quickly introduce myself; I’m Steve Barfoot the
U15 AA coach for the upcoming 2026/27 season. After playing minor hockey and 5 seasons
with the Junior C Hanover Barons, I’ve been coaching the Walkerton Girls U18 BB
for the last 3 years. I’m joining the Saugeen Maitland Lightning Organization
with over 25 of coaching experience from being the assistant coach for the
Hanover Barons Jr C team for two seasons and the Walkerton Hawks Jr C team for one season along with coaching boys
and girls’ minor hockey.
I believe in coaching the entire athlete, not just their
stats. My goal is to foster confidence
and leadership and a love for the game in every player, preparing them for
success on and off the ice. I’m a
“players coach” always ready to listen to the players and their ideas and
suggestions. Our hockey team is our
family for the winter, treating one another with kindness, respect and
sportsmanship.
I’m excited to utilize my experience and knowledge. Our season will consist of individual skill
development, application of team tactics and systems, off ice activities
promoting teamwork and personal growth will also be scheduled throughout the
season.
I’m looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming Spring try
outs!
