Saugeen and Stratford battle for tie
Saugeen hosted Stratford on a rare Tuesday night game and settled for a 2-2 tie. In a much anticipated meeting between Saugeen and Stratford neither team gained any ground. Saugeen and Stratford will play down against each other for the right to play Owen Sound in Provincial qualifier.
Saugeen came out strong in the first period scoring with under 3 minutes left to take an early lead. Hailey Herman added to her team leading 14th goal with assists going to Reagan Kaufman and Lisa Mohr.
Saugeen took a early 2 goal lead in the second when Becky Bultz hammered a shot frorm the point on the power play with an assist to Hailey Herman. Saugeen then put the rest of the period on cruise control and allowed Stratford to tie it up after 2 periods.
The third period was back and forth with the game ending up in a 2-2 tie. "Disappointing after a good start to then let Stratford back in the game" commented coach Bill. "We showed the effects of not playing for a couple of weeks."
Player of the game went to assistant captain Becky Bultz who won the "Laura Award " for her excellent play! Great job Becky!
Looking forward to the upcoming weekend against Woodstock.
