Saugeen loses in Quarter Finals
Saugeen finished their season Saturday night with a 2-0 loss to the Ottawa Ice. Saugeen played well and out shot and out played Ottawa for most of the game but gave up a short handed goal and a late second period goal to end their season. The Lightning could not finish and despite great pressure were unable to score.
The girls had a great year...Winning their LFHL division, Silver Stick Champs, Gold in Bauer Invitational, Silver in Oakville and finishing first in their pool in the Provincials. Saugeen maintained a top ten rating in Canada for the whole year.
Thanks to all the volunteers and staff on a job well done. Thanks to the Lightning players for the determination and desire to be the best.
Saugeen opened up the Provincial's in Ottawa with a 2-1 win over Bancroft.... Saugeen outshot the Bancroft team 35-13. Reagan Kaufman opened the scoring on a break away. Victoria Krulicki regained the lead in the second on a shot from the slot taking a pass from Sam Pruden and Cassidy Mason.
In game 2 Saugeen skated to a 1-0 win over Etobicoke. Cassidy Mason scored the game winner with assists to Taylor MacDonald and Sam Pruden. Rebecca Ropp played awesome recording the shut out.
Game Three: Saugeen skated past Ancaster 1-0 to claim first in the pool and 2nd overall out of the 20 teams. Saugeen moves to the quarter final at 8:30 pm Saturday night.
Taylor MacDonald went end to end going top shelf for the game winning goal on a great individual rush. . Becky Bultz and Ally Spielmacher picked up the assists. Rebecca Ropp earned her second shut out win in three games.
