Midget A, 2013 - 2014 (Saugeen Maitland Lightning)

Our Saugeen Maitland Midget A team continued its tournament success in 2014 winning the Scarborough New Years Classic this past weekend.  The girls completed pool play with a 3-0-1 record with wins over Vaughn 6-0, North Bay 2-0, and North York 3-0' and a 2-2 tie with Timmins.  The tie would cause us to end up in second place in our pool and meant that the girls would have to win three straight games on Sunday if they wanted to take home the Championship banner, which is exactly what they did. The Saugeen Maitland Midget A’s travelled to Detroit to participate in the 2013 Bauer Invite on November 1-3, 2013.   A number of girls from this year’s team (including the coaching staff) had fond memories’ from winning this same tournament as members of the 2012 Midget A team.   Repeating as Champions is always special which is exactly what happened this year!  The Midget A’s went 4 and O in pool play with wins over Owen Sound, Durham West, Grand Rapid, and Etobicoke.  They beat a tough Oakville squad in semi final play and a determined Guelph team in the final.  Congratulations Girls on ...

The Saugeen Maitland Midget A girls completed the month of October with an unblemished record and along the way picked up a tournament championship banner for winning the Toronto Aero's Midget Classic.  The talent, hard work and dedication displayed by the girls is paying off!  Congratulations on the success so far, lets keep it rolling through November!

Strong team defence and offensive contributions from all three lines and our D resulted in the our team capturing the Championship at the 4th Annual Oakville Hornets Harvest Classic.  In pool play, the girls had a record of 2 wins and one tie, the wins coming against Brampton 6-1, and Leaside 3-1, and a 2-2 tie against Mississauga.  In the playoff rounds they recorded three wins, 2-1 against Clearview in the quarterfinals, 2-1 against Aurora in the semi-finals, and a 3-0 win over London in the Championship game.   Congratulations on a great start to the 2013-14 season
