Bantams Continue Competitive Season
The Bantam Lightning had a hard fall in a 6 1 loss to Bluewater on the weekend, with Jennelle Smeltzer getting the only tally for the Boltz on Saturday.
But they rebounded for Sunday's game against the Brantford Ice Cats, playing a great back and forth game, but lost 2 - 1 with just 28 seconds left in the game.
Brantford would score first with .36 left in the first, taking the lead as the buzzer ended the frame. The Lightning would own the 2nd with Bryanna Campbell scoring a beauty to tie things up at the mid point of the 2nd. the 3rd would be an end to end affair, with KC Chagnon stopping some amazing chances in net for the Lightning, but with 28 seconds left in the game, Brantford would slip one in and take the win.
The Bantams play just one more game before taking a break for Christmas, and that is an away game on Sunday Dec 22 in Bluewater.
Home action returns on Sunday December 29th at NOON in Howick, versus the Windsor Wildcats.
The Bantam Lightning would like to take this opportunity to wish all our hockey fans, families and friends a very Merry Christmas and all the best for a fabulous end to the hockey season in 2014! Our team has made a donation to the Olivia Wise Fund for Brain Cancer research through Sick Kids Hospital in lieu of gifts this year.
