Bantams tied for 4th as season winds down
The SML Bantam AA's are tied for 4th place in their loop as the final few weeks of the regular season wind down, after a win in Sarnia on Sunday, January 12th.
The team travelled to Sarnia for a rare morning game on Sunday, and came away with a 2 - 0 win over the Lady Sting.
The teams remained scoreless through the first as both KC Chagnon and the Sarnia goalie stopped numerous quality shots at both ends. Madison Davey scored first for the Lightning with 9:46 left in the 2nd frame to put the Bantams up 1 - 0. Assists would go to Jennelle Smeltzer and Jocelyn Ballantyne. Morgan Murray put the team ahead by 2 with just under 4 minutes left in the 2nd, with Davey and Delayna Smith picking up the helpers on that one.
That would be it for scoring for this match, which would give the Lightning a much needed win heading into the final stretch of the season.
With just 4 games left, the Bantams are tied with Waterloo for 4th spot, and these 2 teams will meet each other 3 times over the next 2 weekends. Watch for exciting hockey action this Saturday, January 18th at Howick at 1:30 as these closely matched teams battle it out for 2nd place.
