SML Intermediate A wins Silver in Cambridge
Submitted By Howie Pruden on Monday, January 21, 2019
Saugeen Maitland INT A started with a 3 -3 tie Friday against St Catherines and then won the next 3 games to propel them into the Gold medal game for a rematch against the St Catherines  team.

Friday the Lightning beat Mississauga Chiefs 4 to 3 and followed up with a Saturday game at the Cambridge Mall which they pick apart Hamilton with a 6 -0  score.  That gave Saugeen the bye for 1st place and sent them to the semi finals.
Saugeen took on a familiar foe in Whitby and sent them to the bronze game with a 5-3 victory.

In the Gold Medal game Saugeen led after two periods but St Kitts steamed back in the 3rd with two goals. With 2 minutes to play and on a power play and the goalie out Saugeen flooded the St Kitts zone with many chances but an iced puck found the empty net giving the Gold to St Kitts.

Great tournament for Saugeen who had not played in 2 months and congrats to Saugeen MVP Cassidy Mason and the rest of the team. Next up West Durham Tournament in Feb.
