Lightning Clinch First Place

The Saugeen Maitland Midget Lightning AA
clinched first place in Lower Lakes League regular play this weekend. The
Lightning went undefeated in their final 5 games and had league record of 15
wins, 4 losses and 3 ties to finish two points ahead of Sarnia and
Bluewater.
On Saturday, the Lighting had to score two
third
period goals to come from behind to beat the Kitchener Rangers 2-1. Rookie, Brittany Butcher tallied a pair of assists while Marcie Landman and Hannah Davidson had the third period goals in the winning effort. Also picking up assists were Brooklyn Irwin and Georgia Ottewell.
The first place Lightning will now face eighth place Windsor in the opening round of the league playoffs. Next weekend, the Bolts head to Sarnia for the International Silver Stick Tournament.
