Lightning Strikes Twice More
Lightning struck twice more on the weekend as the Saugeen Maitland Bantam AA girls shut out both the Cambridge Roadrunners and the Kitchener Lady Rangers

Saturday the girls travelled to Cambridge to face the Roadrunners and finish off a little Christmas shopping.  The Bolts came out hot, scoring all three goals early and coasting to a 3-0 win.  Ashlee Lawrence got things started, scoring on a rebound off a  Neve VanPelt shot.  Lexi Smith got the second Lightning marker with assists going to Miranda Lantz and call-up Mel Nolan.  Avery Reeves got credit for the third goal on a strange play off a face-off in the Cambridge end.  Morgan Baker stopped all shots to earn the shut-out.  Mel Nolan and Kayla McCabe both played well as call-ups from the Bantam A team.

Sunday’s match against Kitchener was closer on the scoreboard, but not in play.  The Lightning peppered the Ranger goalie with shots but had difficulty finishing.  Avery Reeves scored the only goal on a penalty shot.  Rebecca Ropp picked up the shut-out in the 1-0 win.  The girls are looking forward to spending a little down time with their families over the holidays and don’t have another game until January 5 when the Cambridge Roadrunners make a return trip to Howick.  Follow the Lightning results at www.saugeenmaitlandlightning.com.
