Lightning in Tough
Saugeen played a pair of games this weekend at home and despite outplaying both opponents ended up with a single point.
The Lightning played Brantford on Saturday in front of a full house at Sponsor Day and despite outshooting them 35-15 and outplaying them every period the Lightning dropped a 3-0 score.
Sunday Bluewater came to Howick and again the Lightning outplayed the Hawks in all three periods.
Delaney Dupon opened the scoring in the third with a big blast from the point and her first goal of the year. Amy Hepburn won the draw to D man Allison Lemon who passed to Delaney for the goal.
Saugeen took a tripping penalty with a minute to go in the game and with the goaltender pulled the Hawks scored on a deflection with 14 seconds to go.
It was a flukey goal and a shame since we outplayed them but a bad penalty and a missed icing and offside all in the same minute and bang tie game!
Excellent game girls!
