Lightning Tames Ice Cats
The Lightning travelled to Brantford Saturday night for a return match of last weekend. Saugeen scored twice in the first and an empty net goal in the third to skate off with a 3-0 win.
A big win for the girls and moves them past Brantford in the standings.
Saugeen opened the scoring in the first with Jenah Van Loon winning a puck battle behind the Brantford net. Jenah found Sam Pruden in the slot who buried her 6th of the year for a 1-0 lead. A minute later Kara Hatton drove to the net and hammered a shot past the Ice Cat goalie to take a 2-0 lead. Mel Nolan assited on the goal.
Saugeen played 3 excellent periods and had stellar goaltending from Erica Parker who recorded her 3rd shut out of the year. With a minute to go in the game and the goaltender pulled Sam Pruden won a draw in her end which was picked up by Olivia Linklater who found Mel Nolan. Mel drove down the ice and found the empty net to seal the game.
One of our best games of the year with a strong game from the Defence and excellent goaltending. We limited shots and our forwards were rushing the net and broke out with a 3 goal game.
