Midget AA Bolts Down Ice-Cats 3-0
Submitted by Rob Duncan. The Saugeen Maitland Midget AA Lightning travelled to Brantford to play the Ice-Cats in the newly renovated Wayne Gretzky recreation complex on Saturday and came away with another shut-out win. Tori Terpstra opened the scoring with a wrist shot to the top corner off a nice feed from line-mates Kelly Gribbons and Harley Westman. Lexi Smith then stuffed one in the net from her knees after being hacked to the ice by an Ice-Cat defender while on a partial break-away. Cassidy Colhoun made a long pass out of the defensive zone to spring Smith. Maddie Duncan also earned an assist on the Smith's goal. Dawn Pletsch rounded out the scoring, beating the Brantford goalie5-hole after passes from Sarah Biesenthal and Gribbons.
Morgan Baker was sharp when she needed to be, stopping all Brantford shots for the shut-out in net. Next home game is Saturday at 2pm versus the London Devilettes at the Teeswater arena. Follow the Lightning results at www.saugeenmaitlandlightning.com.
