Lightning Splits Weekend Pair
Saugeen saw their 8 game winning streak come to an end Saturday when they hosted Guelph in the 2nd Annual sponsor game. Saugeen played a lacklustre game and trailed 2-0 after 1. Though the Lightning picked up their game they could not score and Guelph potted an empty net goal to give them a 3-0 victory.
Sunday Brantford travelled to Howick and the Lightning came out with vengence and skated to a 4-0 win.
On their first shift of the game Victoria Krulicki scored from the slot on a pass from Jessica Satosek and Jessica Thompson. Jessica Thompson just joined the team this weekend filling in for injured Laura Mangotich.
Lisa Mohr ripped a shot under the post and scored on a power play early in the second. Assits went to Taylor MacDonald and Hailey Herman.
With under a minute to go in the game Hailey Herman feed a great pass up the middle springing Reagan Kaufman on a break away which she buried 5 hole. 18 seconds later Ally Spielmacher hammered home the 4th goal of the game assisted from Cassidy Mason and Mikhayla Bowes to end the game at 4-0.
Emma Bluhm stopped 18 shots for the shut out win.
Jessica Satosek was awarded player of the game by the coaches.
