A Battle for Bronze in Cambridge
The Bantam A Lady Lightning capped off a very competitive weekend of hockey Sunday as they were able to outlast the Cambridge Roadrunners through 4 periods of play and the shoot out to the capture the Bronze medal.
The squad started Friday as they defeated Oshawa 2-0, and lost to Sudbury 1-2. On Saturday they completed round robin action with a 3-2 victory over Brantford and the semi final was a 0-1 barn burner loss to a very talented and tuff Windsor group.
Sunday morning was the Bronze medal tilt against the familiar Cambridge Roadrunners. The ladies went toe to toe with the home side as three regulation and the single overtime period did not decide the victor. It was in the shoot out that the ladies prevailed and after 4 attempts they captured the bronze.
It's a fine way to finish a great weekend of hockey and a testament to how much these young ladies have grown both as players and as a team. Well done ladies! Your coaches, parents, and organization are proud and applaud your determination.
