The Bantam AA team traveled to the States side October 18-21 for a team building trip & tournament. They played in the Tier 1 Girls Invitational Showcase.

They started the weekend off with a 3-1 win against Pittsburg. 1st goal was scored by Maya Robinson assisted by Kloey Jex, 2nd goal was put in by Kennedy McGregor assisted by Ella Black. Vokes stayed strong between the posts for the team. Then they sealed the deal with an empty nest goal scored by Casey Beisel. The girls were so enthusiastic after this win. Thanks to Albert the bus driver for cheering the girls on with his bell. After the game the girls got to ring the Mercy Hurst celebration bell !!!!!! Day 2 first game was an early one against Chicago. Casey Biesel put us on the score board assisted by Jillian Goldie. Kennedy Caldwell was making great saves all over the place. Excellent chances all game, girls played very well. After the second its a tie game 1-1, and thats where this one stayed. Second game that day was against HoneyBake. Maya Robinson scores the first goal assisted by Casey Biesel with 8:33 left in the first. Grace doing well to stay strong well getting banged around a bit, even makes a big sprawling save and that makes her lose her helmet. Grace gathers her self and continues to make great saves. Defence was 1 October 24,2018 making some nice shots from the point. Kloey Jex scores the second goal assisted by Maggie Klunder. 1:40 left and Honeybake scores to make it 2-1. They pull their goalie but Saugeen stays strong and it stays 2-1 win for us. Saugeen ends up #1 in the Canadian pool and they go on to play Chicago who was #1 for the American pool. Day 3 the girls are back at the rink for a 10:20 am game. They start off the game by drawing a penalty for tripping. They go on the power play. They almost put one in on a tip from Taylor Chegahno but it doesn’t go in. Caldwell makes a nice head save, she’s ready for anything in this final game. Then back in Chicago’s end Kaitlyn Nickason takes a strong slap shot from the point and Taylor Chagahno tips it to take the lead 1-0. Girls are working hard to put in another goal. Lots of solid play both ways !!! No goals in the second. With 6:16 left in the third Chicago scores making it 1-1. Girls never give up but the game stays a 1-1 tie, no tie breaker for this game. Fantastic weekend and the girls come out a stronger and closer team.  Melissa N.
