submitted by Rob Davidson The Saugeen Maitland Lightning Midget AA women’s hockey team capped off a very successful season by winning gold at the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League Championship Weekend. Playing without team leader and captain, Gina Murray,  the Lightning produced a gritty effort to win consecutive games on Sunday to win the Overall LLFHL Championship and becoming the top team out of 41 elite Midget teams in Ontario.In game one, the Lightning posted

submitted by Rob Davidson For the second consecutive playoff series, the Saugeen Maitland Midget Lightning AA’s had to battle back to avoid elimination and continue their playoff run in the Southwest Lower Lakes League postseason play.  In the deciding match versus the Bluewater Hawks on Sunday, the Lightning pulled out a 3-2 win.  This left both teams 

submitted by Rob Davidson The Saugeen Maitland Midget Lightning AA’s battled back to eliminate the Waterloo Ravens in Lower Lakes League semi final action this weekend.  On Friday, the Lightning fell 4-3 to the home town Ravens after tying the opening game the previous weekend.  The win gave Waterloo a 3 points to 1 advantage going into Sunday’s deciding match.  In the deciding game, it was the Lightning who came out flying
