Lightning stops BAD girls
Saugeen travelled to Aylmer for a twin bill and skated away with a win and tie to move up the rankings.
Saugeen won 1-0 in the early game and tied Belmont at 2 in the night cap.
In game one Saugeen outplayed the BAD girls but excellent goal tending kept the score at 0 after 2 periods. In the third with under 5 minutes to play Rebecca Rier and Jenah Van Loon worked the give and go behind the Belmont net with Jenah scoring the game winning goal assisted by Rebecca.
With a penalty to Saugeen in the final minute Belmont pulled thier goalie but Saugeen stood tall and killed of the time to cement the win. A great win for Erica Parker who played awesome recording her 4th shut out.
Game two saw Saugeen in the penalty box with a comdey of errors from the referee. Belmont opened the scoring in the first to take an early lead. Saugeen tied it up in the second with Mel Nolan scoring on a great feed from Olivia Linklater. With a brutal call from the ref on too many men on the ice he continued to pile Saugeen in the box and with 3 in the box Belmont scored on a scramble in front of the net.
Saugeen tied it up in the third with Jenah Van Loon hammering in a feed from Sam Pruden. Saugeen's penalty kill this year has been great with only 4 goals scored and 2 of those 2 men down. Emma Bluhm played a great game to record the tie.
