Oct 25 & 26 Games
Submitted by Brad Humphrey.  The Saugeen Midget A team headed off to Woodstock for a Saturday afternoon game and then on to Guelph for a Sunday morning game.

The Saturday afternoon game in Woodstock started off with the SML girls pouring on the fire power. Aleya Murray took a nice pass from Regan Cook and Morgan Murray, tucking it in under the Woodstock goalie.  From there the game went a different direction and the Woodstock team decided to take the game to their level and the strips didn't seem to mind. Numerous penalties from both sides along with lots of calls that still have the SML coaches waiting for the arm to come up.  After 2 period of this, the third period had the SML girls playing more their own style.  Holding their own with the rough play, the girls made it down to the last 1:45 where Abbi Atkins made a smart play over to her D partner and Taylor Humphrey where she placed the long shot off the post and into the empty net.  Woodstock wasn't done yet and got one back with a blistering shot from the blue line to make it a one goal game again. SML held on to take it 2-1.

Off to Guelph for a Sunday morning 10:30 am game. SML started off the game on fire with great pressure. Team scoring leader Regan Cook took a pass from Morgan Murray and picked a corner to give SML the 1-0 lead. The second had Guelph coming out strong and tied it up, but SML wasn't to be intimidated and a nice passing play had another SML goal by Emma Eckenswiller from Jessie Dales and Abbi Atkins putting us up by one.  Good fore checking saw the third SML goal with Aleya Murray scoring from Regan Cook putting SML up 2 on a very tough Guelph team. Up 3-1 and heading into the third, the team was keen and confident. Unfortunately some earned penalities had SML down playing short handed for a big part of the 3rd period. Guelph came back and tied up the game.  SML goalie Julia Gaynor played a very strong game and kept our girls in the game facing 34 shots in the tie.  Other notable players in the game came from Jess Dales, Karissa Eckert and Courtney Wilkins...great team effort !!
