Saugeen Wins Bronze In Cambridge Tournament
Saugeen Intermediates took home the Bronze this past weekend defeating Hamilton 4 to 1 in the final game.  Saugeen started the tournament with a 1 to 1 tie against the Hamilton Hawks and then beat Kitchener 2-0 in the night game. Saugeen then lost 2 -0 to Cambridge to set up a semi final game against the Cambridge team later that night.

Saugeen and Cambridge skated to a scoreless tie after regulation with Cambridge scoring a lone goal in the shoot out. Player of the game went to Amanda Gans who got the shut out in regulation and played awesome to give Saugeen the opportunity to move on.

Saugeen played Sunday morning against Hamilton in the Bronze game.  Jordyn Sholdice opened the scoring in the first getting her own rebound and walking around the goalie. Late in the second Saugeen scored on a 3 on 1 with Victoria Krulicki tapping in a perfect pass from Tori Terpstra. Tori then blasted a rocket from just over the blue line 9 seconds later to give the Lightning a 3 to 0 lead.

Hamilton cut the lead in the third and then with Saugeen on a penalty and the Hamilton net minder out Kendra Schultz pulled away from the Hamilton defense to score the open net goal and cement the victory.

Sam Pruden picked up 3 assists in the victory with singles going to Victoria Krulicki, Tori Terpstra, Hailey Herman, Jessica Hastie and Becky Bults. Tournament Team MVP was awarded to goalie Amanda Gans with Tori Terpstra awarded game MVP.

Great weekend for the team and looking forward to LLFHL playoffs and Provincials.
