Saugeen Maitland Midget A wins Gold in Cambridge

Saugeen Maitland Midget A team won a thriller in OT beating the North York team 1 to 0 in the Finals to win Gold. Playing a three on three format Emma Swift picked up the puck deep in Saugeen's end gaining a break away. Emma put a deke on the goaltender moving her to the right and went around her to hit the open net sending Saugeen home with the Gold Medal. Game MVP went to Goalie Marissa Cunningham who made 20 saves for the shutout including a game saving stop in OT on a player in all alone. After a tie and a tough 2 to 1 loss to North York Saugeen won four straight to take the Gold.

Saugeen Maitland Intermediate A Wins Gold in Guelph

Saugeen Maitland Lightning Intermediate A team played in the Guelph Winter Classic this past weekend. The Lightning team rolled off 5 straight wins to take home the Gold Medal. Saugeen Maitland beat Vaughan Flames 3 to 2 in the Finals after playing two five minute overtime periods and then winning a 5 round shoot out. The Lightning played the entire tournament with 9 skaters and 2 goaltenders due to exams at school. It was a great team effort with different players coming and going.
