Stoney Creek Showcase
It was a great weekend at the Stoney Creek Showcase Tournament September 20th to 22nd. Potluck at the hotel and lots of laughs made for great team bonding. The girls played some exciting hockey too. They went undefeated, winning 3 games and tying 2.
Game 1 VS Illinois
Early in the game the girls were down 1-0 when Neil tied it up with a rebound off Nickel's shot. Early in the third Neil put us ahead 2-1 with a nice 5 hole. Illinois tied it up on our PK. Then with 2 seconds left Beisel found the back of the net! Final 3-2
Game 2 VS Whitby
Down 1-0 in the second, Becker scored bar down to tie it up. Final 1-1
Game 3 VS Assabet Valley
Assabet pulled ahead early in the game and held the lead until the final two minutes of play when Neil found the back of the net to even the score. Final 1-1
Game 4 VS Belle Tire
Early in the game, Boyce put us in the lead with a rebound off a hard shot from Alexander. Vokes took the lead to 2 with a nice backhand top shelf. In the second Sutton scored off a pass from behind the net from Nelson. During the last two minutes of the second, Belle Tire managed to get two goals. Up 3-2 in the final minute of play Neil found the empty net. Final 4-2
2 wins and 2 ties put us in 4th place of the 12 teams in our pool. Sunday morning we faced off against Ancaster. With no score till almost the end of second, Nelson feed Becker a pass in front of the net and Becker snuck it past the goalie. It was a very physical game in the third, but the girls held on to the lead to end the weekend with a 1-0 win. Great goaltending by both Boyce and Caldwell all weekend. They both made some awesome saves!
