Senior A, 2019-2020 (Saugeen Maitland Lightning)

Saugeen's Senior A team travelled to Kitchener for the Fallfest Tournament and came away with Gold beating the home team Kitchener team 3-1. Saugeen started the tournament against the strong Kitchener team losing 5-3 and then defeated Whitby and Auroa to move into the semis. The Lightning defeated Whitby 2 - 1 in OT  skating 3 on 3 with Lexi Smith scoring the winner with 1 second left in the OT. In the Finals Saugeen played a great game getting goals from Ciara Lark and Joelle Busby to take a 2 to 1 lead with Lexi Smith scoring an empty net goal to cement the win. Its been a great start ...

The Saugeen Maitland Lightning Senior A team travelled to the Ancaster Fall Shootout for their first ever games and Tournament and went 4 and 1 taking home the Silver Medal.  Saugeen lost to the defending Provincial Silver Chatham team in the finals after beating them 4 to 3 in the round robin. Saugeen were down 4 to 1 late in the second and came back to close the gap to 4-3 mid way through the third but a late goal and an empty net goal sealed the victory for the Chill. A great start to the year and next up is the Kitchener Fallfest Nov 22-24th.
