The Saugeen Maitland Midget
AA beat the Sarnia Sting 4-2 on the weekend to tally their 50th win
of the season and earn the Lower Lakes West Division title.
The Lightning have gone undefeated in division playoff action sweeping Cambridge, London and most recently Sarnia. Saugeen will now advance to the Championship tournament next weekend in Mississauga to face off against the other 3 Lower Lakes division winners.
In the Sarnia game, it was Team Captain, Sara Gossell who scored the game winner while Brittany Butcher led the scoresheet with two goals and an assist. Also scoring for the Lightning was Dollee Meigs while assists went to Hannah Davidson (2), Kelly Gribbons, Lindsay Dales and Meigs (2). Picking up the win in net was Shea Tilley. Goaltenders, Tiley and Stephanie Sluys and the Lightning defense core of Georgia Ottewell, Lindsay Dales, Kelly Garrow, Abbey Gibson, Brittany Hymers and Kailyn Soers continue to play solid defensive hockey maintaining a goals against average of 1.5 in the six playoff games.
