The Lightning played started their season this weekend with a double header against Stoney Creek.
The first game against Stoney Creek saw both teams scoreless until going into the third. Stoney Creek then mustered a goal by goaltender Kaitlyn Chagnon leaving the score 1-0. The second game of the day against Stoney Creek had them up a goal which was answered by Saugeen's Neve VanPelt from Hannah Herman. Erin Near then scored from the point from Madison Davey. Stoney Creek then scored in the second to make it a 2-2 game. Delayna Smith then potted a goal with assists going to Kailee Hewitt and Davey in the 2nd to make it 3-2. Erica Parker made some key saves to keep the score at 3-2.
Saugeen travelled to Oakville on Sunday. The Lightning came out strong againt the Oakville squad however Oakville scored one in the first. Saugeen continued to hold Oakville at bay until the last 5 minutes of the game when Oakville scored 2 mores goals to make it 3 - 0 final.
