WOW! What a Weekend.
The Lady Lightning Pee Wee A squad pulled off one for the books this past weekend as they went 5 for 5. To start the party they swept the annual Walter Gretzky tourney in Brantford by defeating Stratford, North Halton and the Sault St Marie Wildcats (twice). This completes the regular season set of tournament medallions with one bronze, one silver and now one gold!
The puck didn't stop there as they pulled on their work boots to overcome the adversity of playing the deciding game of three against the always tough Sarnia Sting AFTER that gold medal battle. They grinded it out and finished the series by sending the Sting home with a 3-1 loss. This lifts the Lady Lightning into the second round of the LLFHL play off bracket where they will now face the London Devilettes. They will also continue the OWHA play-down series with the Stratford Aces next weekend. An absolutely outstanding weekend of fast, physical and meaningful hockey.
Ladies you once again have represented your families, organization, communities but most of all each other with the focused determination and pride we are used to seeing. Lets keep it rolling!
